  1. I have been in the Military for 10.5 years now and this is the only time I have ever questioned what I am fighting for. I have been playing poker since I was 10 and love the game. Since this war began this country has lost many lives defending our freedom. The definition of gamble is any matter involving risk or hazardous uncertainty. Our Leaders are GAMBLING with our lives to support the War on Terror. I am not saying I do not support the war, I fight for those who cannot fight for themselves and those around me. EOD Techs have a challenging job overseas and we are the primary targets of insurgents. So, if I can be used as a token in this chess game then I should be able to play poker whenever and wherever I choose. As we all know poker is a game of skill, that is why so many of you reign as Champions. There are so many of us fighting for the freedom of the Iraqi people and at the same time having our freedom taken from us.
Hopefully this ban will be short-lived. PPA is on the right track and I will do whatever I can to support the effort.

  2. do not cancel on line gambling

  3. LET US PLAY

  4. I think we all have the right to choose what we do with our money.
Please let me know if i can be of help maybe signing a letter or something, but i really think Bush gives a s*** of what we really want.

  5. We call our country free but yet we loose more rights every day its time for us to stand up for each other and to put are goverment back in place we the people our the true leaders of this country its time to start acting like it.The people of this country need to stand up and be heard!! If anything should be Illeagal it should be the deceptive ways that they pass laws by attaching one law to another they made poker Illeagal by attaching it to the Port security act a very deceptive practice.Once again I encourage all citzens to stand together so we can once again call are Country FREE!!!

  6. I as an educated American citzen, I feel I have the right to play poker on the internet or in a brick and morter establishment for my own entertainment. I do not feel that a congressmen or senitor has been given the God given right to tell me that it is wrongfull. Therefore I would like to see the continuation of internet poker be available at my leisure.

  7. I am retired and enjoy my on line poker. Please give it back.

All the government cares about is how they can make a dollar. If they cant take some money from us some how from online poker then we cant do it, and its not right. Its a freedom that we fight for everyday.

  9. kinda makes you wonder who defines the word freedom . is it the american people or a bunch of follow the leader polititions in washington

  10. I am very upset that our goverment decided to deceive us Americans. We are supposed to be a free country. That means we should be able to choose what we do for entertainment as well as how we spend our money. I want my freedom back!!! I want to choose what I do!!! I want my on-line poker back!!!

  11. Let us decide, whether to play or not, This is our money, just because the government is not getting a piece of the pot, they don’t want us playing.

  13. I can die for my country but, can’t test my poker skills with the money work very hard for. I don’t understand people can sell drugs and get away with it. We are not doing anything harm full to people outside of my house.
This sad time to be an american.

Online Poker should be legal for those that choose to play.

Poker is a game of skill, not mere chance. If Paramutual wagering and Lottery wagering is legal online, it is hypocritical and misleading to ban poker (again, a game of skill, not mere chance) from a supposedly moral perspective. This seems to be more political favoritism than a case of government serving the people who appoint it. It upsets me to think that it’s being touted as a moral obligation to stop poker, but other means of wagering online are allowed seemingly due to the revenues they provide to state governments.

I suppose money talks, so if you must occupy your time with such a harmless and trivial thing as people enjoying poker online, try to find a way to support poker in a way that provides similar benefits (and therefore either makes it moral, or buys off the moral concern, whichever sits better with you), and in the meantime, please leave this game of skill, and those that choose to play it, alone. There has to be other things of higher concern and priority to worry about.

  15. Poker is not a game of luck but rather a game of skill, it is similar to backgammon in that it does rely on a random event, but then again so does monopoly. Taking our right away to play poker online is ridiculous. With other major issues on the table I’m surprised congress went out of its way to create a ban when it could have done something worthwhile with its time, such as discuss the deficit, the war in Iraq or things that actually matter to people. Please lift the ban. Poker has seen a huge increase in popularity in the past few years and millions of people watch the world series of Poker on ESPN every year. It’s a fun game and people should be allowed to play it.

  16. I served in Iraq to protect my country and its freedoms, the law against playing poker IS NOT ONE I RISKED MY LIFE FOR.

  17. online poker should be legal ,it is are rights to chose to play.

  18. I have been playing poker online for about 5 years. Ihave won money lost money, thats my right as a tax payer. So let me play again.

  19. I support online gambling. I support going to any casino I want when I want. I support every and all local games with friends, I support every and all home games.
Why don’t you asshole goverment people just tax it and get it over with. That’s what you wanted to do from the start, get tax from us and look good to the do gooders that want everone to do as they say belive in there God or whatever. Goverment Let me tell you somthing , those do gooders your trying to get votes and support from, well they are here at the gamming table with me.DON’T YOU LOOK LIKE THE ASS NOW.
TAX GAMMING if you must,I have no problems with that, but don’t tell me what I can or can’t do

  20. Peggy J Matzdorff

I (used to)play poker online as entertainment. The government decided they wanted a piece of the pie, so they banned it until they can figure out how they could get that piece. They used morality and gambling addictions as their reasons for the ban, but they have not banned state lotteries, bingo halls, casinos, horse racing, dog racing, etc. I could spend all day listing the many ways people in this country gamble legally. The fact is, the politicians have already got their sticks in those fires. The American people are not stupid, we know what is going on. But we are lazy. We figure someone else will step up to the plate and fight for what we want. Most people don’t want to get involved anymore. They just want to live their own lives and not be bothered. That’s why voter registration and voter turnout is so low. And that’s why the American Government can get away with this kind of thing. We better watch out, before you know it we will become a Communist Country doing what government tells us to do. This isn’t just about the right to play poker online, it is about losing our right to choose.

  21. they voted – then I voted – now they are gone.

  22. Since when can the inability for taxation cause something to be shut down? More importantly, is this considered a vice like the alcohol in the prohabition? If so, we know that attempting to stop it will only lead to more illicit activities then we have already seen. Let people play from the comfort of their own home and enjoy themselves. Even if it is a problem for someone who is unskilled, addicted, or just plain stupid, none of those reasons can defend the Congress’s actions.
If someone is unskilled, it is their perogative to play. Practice makes perfect.
if someone is addicted, that is a personal issue that should not be taken out on the poker community. Alcohol is allowed. Video games can be addictive. Are they next to go? No more addictivegame.com, eh?
Stupid people do a lot of things. We can’t just put them in a plastic bubble. That is not how society works.

  23. WE GOTTA FIGHT, FOR OUR RIGHT, TO PLAY!!!!!!!!
