“U.S. financial institutions will face a variety of regulatory burdens to prevent the processing of ‘illegal’ internet gambling transactions under the proposed rules to implement the UIGEA according to new analysis. According to an advisory by the law firm Alston & Bird, U.S. residents would be able to circumvent the proposed regulations and continue to gamble online by processing financial transactions through a foreign bank account in a jurisdiction where Internet gambling is legal.”

Cooper in US District Court (3rd District/Trenton, NJ division) to make oral arguments in support of their request for a temporary restraining order versus the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), and to contest the motion to dismiss by the US Dept. of Justice, et al.”

“The charges were laid in June, when a series of raids ended the seven-month “Project Kaleidoscope” investigation by police and the Manitoba Gaming Commission into poker tournaments. Investigators allege illegal poker tournaments were being held in Winnipeg at the Barca Club and the Players Club on Corydon Avenue, as well as Shooters Billiards on Pembina Highway.”
