“In what appears to be a local preemptive strike against future laws legalizing commercial gambling casinos in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Bell County Fiscal Court voted unanimously Tuesday to state its opposition to such ventures. The five magistrates of the court, encouraged by Judge Executive Albey Brock, approved a resolution opposing “the expansion of gambling at off-track betting parlors established without local approval by a majority of the voters.”

“Robbers wearing skeleton suits busted a poker game Tuesday and took as much as $19,000 in cash, the victims told police. About 5 a.m., police say, six to eight friends about to leave for Las Vegas were playing poker at a house in the 500 North block of J Street.”
