“The European Union told the U.S. Tuesday that it wanted compensation for a U.S. foreign online gambling sites ban that doesn’t comply with global trade rules. U.K. online gaming operators such as Sportingbet PLC (SBT.LN) and Leisure & Gaming PLC (LNG.LN) were forced to quit the profitable U.S. market last year when Washington stopped U.S. banks and credit card companies from processing payments to online gambling businesses outside the country. The decision closed off the most lucrative region in a market worth $15.5 billion last year. About half of the world’s online gamblers are based in the U.S.”

“According to the Internet Media Entertainment And Gaming Association (IMEGA) trade organization, American Senator and one of the candidates standing for President, Barack Obama, has voted to police the Internet. The US Senate voted unanimously last month on a Resolution making June National Internet Safety Month, a motion proposed by the Illinois Democrat alongside fellow Senators Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Ted Stevens of Alaska among others.”

“I thought you might enjoy one of the odder exchanges I had at the hearing. The exchange was with Rep. Spence Bachus, and I guess this was supposed to be his “gotcha” question for me. To be honest, I was so floored by the sheer ignorance of the question, I didn’t quite know how to respond. To set up the exchange, one of the points of contention during the hearing was the reliability of age verification systems. Enjoy.”
