Jeff Haney talks to an industry veteran about the effect on cardrooms of the recent online gambling crackdown (Las Vegas Sun, 11/22/06)
“I always say I hope (Internet poker) stays up, because I think it helps us a lot,” McClelland said at the recent Global Gaming Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center. “Once (online players) come into our casinos, they like the personal attention, the camaraderie, the interaction. “What concerns me is that if the Internet (poker) goes completely down, then these people will find other interests.”

PERSPECTIVE: Government regulations force Internet poker to fold (The Daily Free Press, 11/21/06)
“The justification behind the act was that America’s youth were getting caught up in gambling at a younger age than ever, and it could only be stopped by eliminating the problem at its source. Gambling is and always will be a problem across America, however, the online poker ban does nothing except send mixed messages. At almost any time, poker can be found unregulated on television. Celebrities and athletes have their own poker shows, games and tournaments.”

Poker in The Boston Area (Poker News, 11/22/06)
“Boston, as with many cities in the United States today, has a large poker scene. There are no legal clubs. Poker is illegal in Massachusetts. Though it is rare, illegal clubs are occasionally busted, the owners fined, the players losing their chips and their corresponding cash buy-ins, and the clubs shut down.”

  1. HELLO–

I am a big supporter of the PPA. I am in contact with the home office. I noticed TWO MORE MAJOR ARGUEMENTS we can use. I am sharing this with members, to add to their letters.

Please contact me, and I will share them with you.

I think this Web Site is GREAT. I like all the links to different, interesting and important aspects. I welcome the opportunity to hear from you, and give you the additional two items to add to the letters.

    Sincerely,

    Jeff
