Summary: Senate Bill 6613
Actual Text: Senate Bill 6613

June 7, 2006 (Law goes into effect)
“Washington residents who play poker or make most other types of wagers on the Internet will be committing a Class C felony, equivalent under the law to possessing child pornography, threatening the governor or torturing an animal…the new law carries stiff penalties: as much as five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.” (source)

July 12, 2006 (Enforcement)
“All that, says the state β€” the ads, the linking, even the discussing β€” violates a new state law barring online wagering or using the Internet to transmit “gambling information.”…”It’s what the feds would call ‘aiding and abetting,’ ” says the director of the state’s gambling commission, Rick Day. “Telling people how to gamble online, where to do it, giving a link to it β€” that’s all obviously enabling something that is illegal.” (source)

i’m sure there are thousands of people like myself who suffer from anxiety disorders which prevent us from playing poker in a live cassino setting, this new law is unfair to people like us because online is the only way we can play poker.i think there should be a loophole in this law for people like us as long as we provide proof from a doctor.

  3. Im a washington state resident who just got through commiting a class C FELONY… I would like to see someone challenge this in a court of law. A few grandmas sitting on the state capital steps playing online 25 cent poker on laptops should do the trick. Demand to be arrested and go to trial! Any radical lawyers left out there? If you are a poker player, better realize that your state is next unless you speak up. gl
